Assessment  for North East Regional Forest Agreement released

The Comprehensive Regional Assessment (CRA) of the North Eastern forest region, conducted by the State and Federal Governments, was released on August 25.

The Assessment is part of the Regional Forest Agreement between the two governments, which aims to facilitate job growth and sustainable use of resources in forestry industries whilst protecting the environmental values of the area.

Two RFAs have already been produced for the East Gippsland and Central Highlands areas.

The Minister for Conservation and Land Management, Mrs Tehan, said the RFA will take into account the comprehensive land use planning processes that have been undertaken and are planned for the region, including the work of the former Land Conservation Council and the proposed Forest Management Plan for the North East.
