New Koori services strategy commmitment

The State Government’s Koori Services Improvement Strategy was launched by the Ministers for Health, Youth and Community Services and Aboriginal Affairs on August 27.

The Minister Responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, Mrs Henderson, said Aboriginal Victorians were more likely than others to be in need of health and welfare agencies, but were less likely to use their services.

Aboriginal life expectancy continues to be almost 20 years shorter than for the rest of the community; aboriginals are more likely to be unemployed or out of the workforce and to be living in rental accommodation.
