The latest Education Department Parent Opinion Survey figures show that 89.1 per cent of primary school parents and 82 per cent of secondary parents are satisfied with their schools.

The survey was part of a yearly review process undertaken by all government schools.

The Parent Opinion Surveys are conducted annually in all Victorian government schools. Around 50,000 parents are surveyed each year.

The Minister for Education, Mr Gude, attributed the results to the increase in education spending during the current term in government, the addition of over 4,000 new teachers under the age of 30, greater decision making powers for parents and increased accountability.

"On all important indicators including retention rates, student to teacher ratios, and class sizes, we are among the best in the country," the Minister said.
