The world's largest manufacturer of micro processors, US company Intel Corporation, and venture capital providers Allen & Buckeridge, are to provide capital and resources to Melbourne-based company 80-20 Software.

The deal, which was facilitated by Multimedia Victoria, will create 50 to 60 jobs in Melbourne over the next three years.

The investment by Intel and Allen & Buckeridge would allow 80-20 Software to expand its Melbourne R&D headquarters and establish sales and promotion offices in North America and Europe.

In the past four years more than $2 billion has been invested in Victoria's multimedia and IT industry, leading to the direct creation of more than 10,000 jobs.

80-20 Software developed the Document Management Extensions for Microsoft Exchange, a knowledge and document management technology for managing an organisation's information assets using Microsoft applications.
