Advertisements placed for Emergency Services mobile data provision

The first stage of acquiring advanced mobile data technology for emergency services has been publicly advertised on 20 February.

Private sector organisations are being asked to express their interest in providing a mobile data network service, initially for the greater metropolitan area.

Emergency vehicles will be equipped with data terminals which will streamline the work of on-the-road police, fire, ambulance and rescue personnel.

The mobile data network service, to be provided by the successful private sector bidder will be designed to meet the requirements of Emergency Service Organisations.

(News Release, Office of the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, 20 February 1999)
