Help for Koori business participation

The Minister Responsible for Aboriginal Affairs, Ann Henderson, has launched a State Government policy initiative aimed at promoting a healthy Koori business sector.

"Doing Business" follows the landmark conference of State and Federal Government Ministers Responsible for Indigenous Affairs in Melbourne last year.

"Doing Business" will:

  • Provide supported access to a comprehensive range of business development and support services.
  • Facilitate the development of Indigenous business networks.
  • Establish strategic partnerships (government and private sector) to support Indigenous business development.
  • Target all groups within the Koori community including young people, women and people who live in rural areas.
  • Promote awareness of Koori enterprises and products.

"The network will employ skilled business development professionals to work with existing businesses, individuals, groups and communities to develop business ideas and identify the best available forms of training, advice and support," Mrs Henderson said.
