$9 million in grants for youth agencies
Youth support agencies in Victoria will receive $9 million in grants over two years as part of the Victorian Government's Youth Services Program. Youth support services assist young people of 10 to 25 years with a special emphasis on 1218-year-olds. Successful applicants will receive funding of up to $50,000 each year. Statewide funding will be available for specialised projects with grants of up to $100,000 each year. Victoria has more than 620,000 people aged between 10 and 19, about 15% of Victoria's total population. Programs will provide improved access for young people and their families to information and early intervention services, and specialised services to clients with particular needs. Applications close on Thursday June 3. Advertisements detailing the funding are to be published in newspapers. (News Release, Office of the Minister for Youth and Community Services, April 23, 1999)
