Tourism to go online
The State Government will spend $7.4 million over the next two years to market Victoria online and give all the states tourism operators the opportunity to have their wares and attractions featured around the globe on the world wide web. The idea is to enable international and interstate visitors and Victorians to view, book and pay for their Victorian holidays over the Internet by 2002. It is estimated that currently less than 5.0% of Victorian tourism product is fully on line. The plan will:
People from all over the world will be able to look at exactly what Victoria has to offer and book their holidays or be directly referred to their travel agent with the click of a button. The plans first stage involves a partnership between the Government and Victorias tourism industry to train, educate and collate a massive amount of tourist information.
