Budget funding for TV and film script development and production
Victoria's film and television industry is to receive $12 million additional funding over the next four years. The incentives are expected to generate up to $48 million in production a year and create more than 1300 jobs. Victorias film industry provides cost-competitive production with diverse and accessible locations, an advantage that would be further enhanced by the Paramount Viacom Studio proposed for Docklands. The annual incentives will be divided between two programs to support film-makers in script making and to attract productions to the State:
Film Victoria, a part of the State Governments screen culture and funding organisation, Cinemedia, will manage both funds. Cinemedia is to play a more active role in funding local script development, and attracting film production that might otherwise be shot in other states or overseas.
