New Skills.net grants
The State Government has announced 20 new projects under its Skills.net community Internet training strategy. The Minister for Information Technology and Multimedia, Alan Stockdale, making the announcement, said: "The strength of Skills.net is in bringing the Internet to people who might otherwise be left behind." "Skills.net is recognised around the world as one of the largest and most innovative community-based Internet learning programs. We are now receiving inquiries from governments interstate and overseas seeking to reproduce our success," he said. The 20 recipients of the $200,000 allocation are: Apollo Bay College, Apollo Bay. AWARE Skills.net, Mount Waverley. BEC Wodonga, Wodonga. Clota Cottage, Box Hill. Coatesville Primary School, East Bentleigh. Djerriwah Employment and Education, Melton. Family and Child Care Centre, Mount Waverley. Footscray Community Arts Centre, Footscray. Melbourne Juvenile Justice Centre, City. Murrayville Neighborhood House, Murrayville. Neighborhood House, Warracknabeal. Noweyung Centre, Bairnsdale. Ruthven Primary School, Reservoir. Shepparton Science and Technology Centre, Shepparton. Southern Grampians Neighborhood House, Hamilton. St Johns Ambulance, Ballarat. West Sunshine Community Centre, West Sunshine. Western Bulldogs Training Centre, Footscray. Williamstown Community and Education Centre, Williamstown. Yarrawonga Neighborhood House, Yarrawonga. The new projects will bring the number of centres providing free or affordable Internet training to almost 400.
