Traffic information on the Internet

Real-time traffic information is now available to Melbourne’s motorists over the Internet.

Before leaving for work or going home, commuters can check current freeway travel times, as well as information on accident locations, roadworks and other incidents likely to affect driving around Melbourne.

Drive Time information is available for the Eastern, West Gate and Monash Freeways on the Vicroads web site’s "Real Time Traffic Information" page, which has replaced the previous Austext service.

Traffic information is based on data from the road network and relayed back to the VicRoads Traffic Control Centre through incident detection systems, 2200 traffic signal sites and traffic monitoring cameras.

The Traffic Control Centre operates 24 hours a day to provide instant responses to incidents that affect the flow or safety of traffic throughout Victoria.

VicRoads’ Internet address is: www.vicroads.vic.gov.au.
